101 Uses for a Ripe Garden Tomato*: #1--Soggy Stale Bread Salad

Dearest O glanced at the 4-day old loaf of ciabatta** and tried to guess what I was preparing for dinner: "Panini?"

Good guess, but no. When I told him I was making soggy stale bread salad--better known as panzanella--he was still interested, which is a testament either to my fabulous cooking skills or to his exceptional hunger.
